Consulting Engineer, Nuclear Fire Protection

Mr. Michael Szkutak has over 12 years of fire protection engineering and consulting experience with a focus in the nuclear industry. As a Consulting Engineer, Mr. Szkutak has been involved with NFPA 805 Risk-Informed Performance Based Analyses, Fire PRA, Fire Modeling, Explosion Modeling and Consequence Analyses, NFPA Code Compliance Reviews, Engineering Evaluations, Significance Determination Process, Fire Safety and Fire Hazards Assessments, Combustible Loading Calculations, and Uncertainty and Sensitivity Analysis. He has comprehensive knowledge of fire and explosion modeling tools and applications including NIST’s FDS, CFAST, NUREG-1805 Fire Dynamics Tools, EPRI’s FIVE, TNO Multi-Energy Method, and DNV’s PHAST.

Mr. Szkutak has provided onsite and remote assistance during NRC Triennial Inspections, NRC audit support, Fire PRA self-assessments, Fire PRA peer reviews, and F&O Closures and has provided training to various clients in fire modeling and Fire PRA concepts and applications.

Mr. Szkutak also holds an SFPE, Member Grade, and is a licensed Fire Protection Engineer (MA).
